Immersion Assembly

Omg, what a great start to term two. Immersion assembly was amazing. I loved how there was lots of excitement in the hall and seeing all my friends.

What is an immersion assembly you say? Well at our school every start of the term we have an “immersion assembly”. The teachers perform or show a movie of what they're team topic is about, and us, team 5, our topic is about ‘SOUND’!

I loved the costumes that they had on. The costumes were colourful. They also had funny wigs on. These were bright as well.

My favourite performance was team 5. I like their movie about sound. In the movie they had showed them playing instruments. They danced, it was so cool and funny. My highlights of being back to school is seeing my friends.

Grace-Science Experiment

Science experiment:

Question: What will happen to the sound if I cut the straw shorter and blow through it?

Links to research about Sound:

Hypothesis: (What do you think will happen?) e.g. I think that….
The sound will go up
Materials needed:
Straws & Scissors.
Experiment (procedure):
e.g. Step 1 - Crease straw

Step 2 - Cut crease into triangle shape with scissors. Blow air into cut end

Step 3 - Listen to the sound it makes, then record it.

Step 4 - Cut the straw shorter

Step 5 - Blow on cut end, then record it.

Data (What happened?)
15cm:
Makes a sound
10cm:
The sound went higher
5cm:
The sound went higher at 5cm than at 10cm

Observations:
First we each got a straw. Then we cut one end of the straw into a triangle form. At 15cm makes a little sound. Next at 10cm then sound went higher. The final time I had cut the straw the sound went higher at 5cm than at 10cm.

Conclusion:

My hypothesis was right because the sound went a little higher every time I cut the straw shorter.

Grace-Reflection

My amazing Highlights this term for me would have to been: Walking down to Tamaki College for P.E. I miss going there because our tutors were like the best. All the activities and games we played was really amazing and fun. Our groups name was the All stars, I think?

I have made improvements/progress in: I probably made improvements in my Math, because I've learnt lots of new things about math. I think I need to work on my multiplication more.

I know this because: I've been trying to work on my maths. I really think that I need to work on my multiplication because I can’t really get my strategies right and if I don’t get that right then I won’t get the answer right.

I still need to work hard to improve my Reading, writing and Math.

I am most proud of my efforts to do my Reading work because I always reread the questions and get them all right.

My 3 main goals for Term 2 will be:
1. Not be in detention,
2. To try hard in my Maths
3. To be a good friend to others

FiaFIa-Grace

My highlights about fiafia was seeing my old friends. I had seen a lot of people that use to come to Pt England. I saw Jasmine, I had known her for a long time now but hadn't seen her for a while.

When it was time to get change, I ran as fast as I could to my classroom. I tried fitting into my costume, my sisi kept on falling of. Trying to put my hair in place Mrs Lagitupu had told us to come in for a photo.

Sitting down and looking at others perform was amazing. The most annoying thing that bugged me was the sisi, because people kept on playing with it.

When it was time to go on, I felt very scared. I felt butterflies in my stomach. I was scared that I might get the dance moves wrong or no one would clap after our performance. but on the other of it I felt happy and excited as well.

When I was performing I had butterflies in my stomach. I was sweating because of the lights, it had made me hot. But it all went well when I was dancing.

My favourite parts about fiafia was seeing the Samoan group. I love it how the were not shy, happy and trying the hardest. I like how they we getting into the music. I would love to see it once more time.

Six Sentence Story. (Buddy Writing)

Once upon a time there lived a girl named Porscha Webster. She lived in Glen Innes, with her brothers and sisters. She was very good at Netball, she was better than me. Apparently she had a problem because ever time she gets excited she starts hitting people. She had a mental problem, so she had a chat with her mother and  Porscha took her mom's advice and she fixed her problem by going to the community council.

Netball- Grace

Netball is a very physical, hard working game. When you play netball you sweat, you get tired, you can hurt your self by jumping up high and you might hurt your knee. Netball is very hard to learn because we are not allowed to step.

]Wing attack, wing attack feeds the ball into the oval. But wing attack can not go everywhere on the court. Wing defence, defences the ball from getting to the other side. There's a lot more positions like gold shoot, gold attack, gold keep, gold defence and more.

Last week we had netball trials. I got change into my P.E and waited for our coach. Once she came we had put our pips on and got into positions. I really wanted to get into team one. Sweat coming down my face as I was running for the ball. I got nervous when I was shooting the ball.

I love netball. last year I went to A.M.I. unfortunately I didn't make it to the next trial. My goal is to try hard and practise to get into a.m.i. Last year Porscha, Mary I, Mary L, Jaylee, Hope and Mel had trial with me.
